Welcome to our guide of what’s on in June 2024 around Malta and Gozo, especially ideal if you are staying with us at Hotel Juliani throughout this month.

June is going to be an extremely busy month when it comes to events across the Maltese islands. Go ahead and take a look at the multitude of festivals and cultural happenings that will be taking over our Mediterranean paradise.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

The first public holiday in June will be on the 7th, commemorating the revolt of the Maltese population against British troops on this day back in 1919. Also known as Sette Giugno, whereby four people were unfortunately killed during an intense riot, this national day serves as a reminder of the Maltese population’s undying perseverance.

And although it will fall on a Saturday this year, another public holiday in June falls on the 29th. Called ‘Imnarja’ in Maltese, deriving from the Latin word ‘luminaria’ which means ‘light’, this day is the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul. One of our islands’ oldest feasts, it is celebrated mainly in the neighbouring localities of Rabat and Mdina, uniquely characterised by horse and donkey races in the afternoon.

EARTH GARDEN MUSIC FESTIVAL

Now entering its 17th year, Ta Qali’s National Park will be transformed into a forest-like camp-out escape to host the alternative music festival Earth Garden. A plethora of musicians, bands and DJs will be performing between 6th and 9th June, including world-renowned electronic duo Groove Armada and Ukrainian Eurovision group Go_A. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here

VALLETTA CONCOURS

Coming up on 2nd June, Valletta Concours promises to present a selection of the finest historic and collector cars from both the island and beyond. Exhibited vehicles will compete to win coveted awards, and attendees are encouraged to wear vintage attire. More information about this event can be found here

MALTA INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL

This is one of our islands’ most eclectic and inspiring annual festivals, which this year will take over Valletta between 14th and 23rd June. Its programme will feature plenty of musical, theatrical and dance-related performances, including concerts inside a subterranean 16th century cistern built by the Knights. You can go through the whole festival programme, and purchase tickets for the individual events, by clicking here

ED SHEERAN LIVE IN CONCERT

Global sensation Ed Sheeran will be stopping by the island on 26th June as part of his worldwide tour, alongside opening act Calum Scott. Set to be an unforgettable landmark event within this summer’s Maltese cultural calendar, the concert will be hosted at Ta’ Qali with an expected attendance of over 15,000 people. Tickets are currently still available from here.

MALTA INTERNATIONAL WINE FESTIVAL

Showcasing over 300 stellar wines from Malta as well as the rest of the world, this festival will be happening at the Argotti Gardens in Floriana between 19th and 23rd June. Aside from sampling an array of both local and foreign wines, attendees can learn about the art of wine making and food pairings, whilst also enjoying live music. Entrance will be free of charge, and you can find out more information by clicking here
