The small Mediterranean island has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a trailblazer in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. We are excited and honoured to continue our journey this September, hosting EuroPride 2023.

EuroPride Valletta 2023 is a place for celebration for everyone, taking place 7th to 17th September. It’s set to be a 10-day non-stop party with Pride Marches in Valletta, and Gozo, concerts and theme parties galore, with international superstar Christina Aguilera announced as the headline artist.

Pride Week offers a hugely inclusive variety of entertainment activities and events, coordinated by ARC – Allied Rainbow Communities, NGOs, individuals and partner organisations, to make sure all different minorities are represented.

EuroPride aims to offer the European, Middle East & North Africa LGBTIQ+ Community a safe place to both party, and explore todays issues based on prejudice, bias and fear, through a series of events and activities. We are thrilled that Malta will be the base for this important celebration in 2023.

The triumph of love

In recent years, Malta has made significant strides towards equality. In 2014, the country passed comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation that protected individuals on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. This groundbreaking move set the stage for further positive change.

In 2017, Malta became the first European country to outlaw gay conversion therapy, sending a powerful message that no one should be subjected to harmful practices aimed at changing their sexual orientation. The nation stood firmly in support of its LGBTQ+ citizens, fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding.

Malta’s commitment to equality reached new heights in the same year when it legalized same-sex marriage. The joyous occasion was met with widespread celebration, as love triumphed and barriers were shattered. It was a momentous step towards inclusivity and a testament to the country’s progressive values.
