The Barrakka Lift links Valletta’s Lascaris Wharf to St. Peter and Paul Bastion and the Upper Barrakka Gardens. It provides access from the Grand Harbour directly to the city. The built was originally built in 1905, but was demolished in 1983. The current lift was built in 2012. It’s a welcome rest for visitors whose legs are tired from Valletta’s steps. It’s worth noting that the lift is free to use descending to the harbour, but is 1€ to get you back up.
